AURORA — A four run second inning powered Batter’s Box to defeat Prime Academy by a final score of 6-2 on Friday afternoon at Overland High School.

“I thought we came out today and really swung the bat well,” Batter’s Box shortstop Zach Medina said. “Getting guys in position to score is huge and when we do that, we always have a good chance to win.”

Medina, a Highlands Ranch native and Colorado Christian commit, led Batter’s Box with two hits, runs and an RBI.

“I just wanted to hit the ball on the opposite side of the field,” he said. “I feel like my first single in the second inning got us going, for sure.”

The recently graduated high school senior feels the league is a great jumpstart to his collegiate career.

“My college coach wanted to see me play all summer,” Medina said. And he is the assistant for Batter’s Box. He wanted me to get some reps against college guys. He said it was competitive and it’s been just that.

My teammates really help me, and it’s been a good judgment of college ball so far. It’s giving me confidence and a good boost to my college career.”

Batter’s Box travels to Frederick High School on Thursday to face the Northern Colorado Roughnecks.

“I think this win gives us a good chance to compete in the league,” Medina said. “We started out rough but were above .500. So, we’re right there, and we just need to keep playing consistent.”
