The Colorado Lumberjacks and Northern Colorado Roughnecks both embodied this in Sunday's thrilling nine inning affair at Horizon high school. No team had anything to play for as the Boulder Collegians had already secured themselves as the the season champions of the league. But both teams were there for the same reason, to play baseball. The game went completely back-and-forth. After the Roughnecks took an early 1-0 lead in the second, the Lumberjacks responded by scoring five [...]

Pueblo, a town located hours south of Denver, hosted their seventh annual $1 beer night.   This event drew a large crowd to Hobbs Field at the legendary Runyon Sports Complex. The field was officially established in 1938. It has since hosted a minor league baseball team and been a pit stop in barnstorming tours for several Major League Baseball legends including Babe Ruth. Terry Straber’s Strong Outing Aids Boulder 14ers in 8-3 Victory Over Colorado Lumberjacks

2021-07-13T11:16:24-07:00

The Boulder 14ers and Colorado Lumberjacks were both looking to rebound after recent doubleheader sweeps. This would be a crucial game between the second and third place teams in the league as starting pitchers Terry Straber and Conner Cuminsky went head-to-head. The teams were scoreless through the first four innings with each pitcher striking out seven in that frame. Straber had a no hitter going through four but like Cuminksy, he lacked run support early . The 14ers finally broke through after leaving runners on base in the previous innings. With one out in the top of the fifth, Jake Miller [...]

Colorado Cannons Win Two Low Scoring Affairs Against Colorado Lumberjacks

2021-07-09T12:53:37-07:00

By Ben Rossi It's always refreshing to see low scoring baseball every once in awhile especially when it's played in a region like the rocky mountains. Both games of Thursday's doubleheader between the Colorado Cannons and Colorado Lumberjacks presented this. It became evident through the first four innings that Game 1 was a pitching duel between Jake McGrath and Caden Nelson. Neither allowed a run through the first three frames of work. Each pitcher escaped jams in the early innings without  surrendering any runs. Nelson got hitters whiffing at his high offspeed stuff while Mcgrath was able to depend on his [...]
