COLORADO SPRINGS — The Colorado Springs Renegades continued their early season momentum, defeating the Greeley Grays 13-8 on Sunday afternoon at UCCS Ballpark.

Greeley (2-3) jumped out to an early 1-0 lead in the first inning.

However, Colorado Springs (2-0) would score eight runs the next three innings to help create a commanding 8-5 lead after the fourth inning.

The Grays struck with two runs in the top of the fifth inning to slash the Renegades lead to just one run.

With the rain pounding on the turf, Colorado Springs struck with four runs, which eventually ended any chance of a Greeley comeback.

Micah Bregard (4 IP, 5 K’s) picked up the victory for the Renegades. Alex Bumpus (3-4, 3 hits, 2 runs) and Bryce McKee (1-4, 3 RBI’s) powered the Colorado Springs offense.

Jack Miller dropped the contest for Greeley. Conner Dayton (2-3, 2 hits) led the offensive attack for the Grays.

The second game of a doubleheader, which went into delay in the bottom of the first inning (1-0 Greeley), will be postponed due to rain.

The Renegades will continue play at home, on Thursday, against Thunder Academy. First pitch of the doubleheader is slated for 3pm.

Greeley hosts the Colorado Khaos at Nelson Farm in Johnstown on Monday at 5 and 7pm.
